Effective July 1st, Metrolink, Southern California’s commuter rail system, simplified their fare structure, now offering a Day Pass ($15 on weekdays, $10 on weekends), a $5 L.A. Zone Day Pass for unlimited travel within eight stations in the central Los Angeles area, plus discounts for seniors and veterans. All of this being designed to promote Metrolink as something more than just a work commute option, but rather another option for getting around in general. The Militant will drink to that!
Speaking of which…
A couple years ago, The Militant took a look at various Metrolink stations on the map and noticed a number of them had breweries or taprooms within walking distance. He made notes of them on a paper Metrolink map and set it aside for a while. It wasn’t until he saw someone post a thread on Reddit regarding a pub/brewery crawl on Metrolink that he decided to dig up that map he scribbled on back in 2023 and make another local guide out of it.
After some research, he finally came up with it: The Militant’s Metrolink Beer Map. There it is, take it!
If you’re familiar with The Militant’s guides, there’s some criteria involved. This map includes places within walking distance (6 blocks or less) of Metrolink commuter rail stations that serve exclusively or mostly craft beers on tap. Many of them are actual breweries, but they also include taprooms and pubs. Food is not a necessity, but many of them do have kitchens, or at least host food trucks or have eateries nearby. Also, some of these places also serve cocktails/hard liquor, but it is not a requirement (but is pointed out if you wanna git yo drank on). Not included are regular bars that only serve your average mainstream corporate beers. Because, like, why?
Hours are listed so you can coordinate them with Metrolink schedules.
